Sharon Wood-Kenney
Cultural Navigator and Consultant
Sharon Wood-Kenney was born in Boorloo, Western Australia, She is a proud Noongar Yamatji Yorga with family ties across Western Australia.
Sharon has been honoured with hearing her old peoples stories since she was a little girl. Honouring story telling in song, dance, ceremony, lore, arts and painting are ways of finding our belonging. She helps to bring Bidi (journeys) Koorliny (together) by designing and using a range of mediums including acrylics, paperbarks, wood engravings, ochre and other unique materials.
Her favourite pass times include walking along the waterways, being creative through drawing and writing poetry, djinda gazing, spending time with and caring for our old people, family, country and friends.
Sharon was inducted into the WA Woman’s Hall of Fame in 2020 for work in positive mental health and wellbeing using sports as the pathway to engage. Sharon founded Djinda Falcons education and leadership programs, Djinda BW and South West Kinships Cultural Immersions, to build pride and respect for culture, reconciliation and self determination platforms for youth and families to belong, heal and grow.
As the creative force behind a range of transformative cultural immersion training and educational programs, Sharon is celebrated as a trailblazer reshaping systems and deepening cultural understanding through innovation and storytelling.
Her groundbreaking “Perception Is OUR Truth” Cultural Immersion experience invites participants to see the world through a new lens, fostering empathy, awareness, and connection. Currently being delivered across WA Police, Education, Two-Way Science, Tech and Health sectors, her programs are building genuine bridges between communities and agencies across Australia.
Walking in Two Worlds, pushes towards true equality and reconciliation for a better place for generations to come.
